Poetry in the Woods features poets Dan Rourke and Joe Toner performing their original poetry.
Dan Rourke was a 2014 Creative Workforce Fellow, a program of the Community Partnership for Arts and Culture. He has published a book of poems entitled Catch Me, and has performed his poetry around Cleveland for more than twenty years. Dan is currently working on his fourth novel, tentatively titled Fair Hooker Never Let Me Down. He works at the Greater Cleveland Food Bank.
Joe Toner taught English at St. Ignatius and now teaches at Rocky River High School. His poetry ranges from the inscrutable to the incoherent. Toner has written 12 books, the last one being A Yo-Yo for Yul Brynner, in which the yo-yo
symbolizes life’s vicissitudes and Yul Brynner symbolizes a bald Russian actor, oddly cast as an Egyptian pharaoh. When he is not writing poetry, Toner enjoys cooking baklava on the grill.
